Come Away

I think we can can all definitely feel the seasons changing. Spring is calling, along with the mama bird resting on her new baby eggs outside my kitchen window.

There is so much to be said about this passage. The winter has past, the rain is done, and spring has finally come. But right now, for me, the words that stick out the most are, “Come away.”

I immediately remember the love song by Nora Jones, “Come Away With Me.” It might be a secular song, but every time I listen to it I’m drawn in by my beloved, Jesus. I might not have a second to myself during the day, and have a ton of things on my to do list. But in the midst of the crazy day to day, I can still “Come Away” with Him.

It might look like talking to Him while I’m changing diapers, or sweeping, or cooking another meal that’s just going to end up on the floor for me to sweep again. Or for you, it might look like coming away with Him on your lunch break, or in between paperwork, or on your way home from work.

Whatever it may look like… let us have opened eyes and a ready heart to say “yes” to come away with Him in this new season. Not in a religious way because it’s the right thing to do, but because we are in a love relationship with Him. You and I are being fiercely AND gently pursued by the One who gave everything for us. Let’s just open the doors to our hearts this season and let Jesus start planting a beautiful garden!
