The Weeping God

All week I’ve been asking God, “why?”

This life can be hard and full of sorrow and I’ve been heartbroken and distressed over what is going on in the world and in my own life. I am expecting miracles and I still get disappointed. So I keep asking why?

I’ve been hearing Father say John 16:33, “And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous for I have conquered the world.”

Sorrow in this life is inevitable BUT thanks be to God who sent His Son to conquer this world. His death and resurrection means resurrection for us!

I’ve been thinking a lot about when Lazarus died and Jesus wept. Jesus knew what was going to happen. He knew that in a few moments Lazarus would walk out of his grave and Mary’s tears would turn to shouts of joy, yet He still stopped to weep with Mary. We serve a God who is not afraid of the tears or the heartache that we pour out to Him, instead He stops to weep with us even though He knows the resurrection He has in store for our lives.

My hope is in the weeping God because I know that means resurrection is coming! When you’re in the midst of sorrow, stop and cry out to God. Let Him cry with you and then trust Him to bring His resurrection power to that situation.
